The stage was set for an exciting weekend in the NCAA soccer world after top-ranked UCLA and No. 2 Stanford both collected solid wins on Thursday night.

The South Carolina Gamecocks, currently No. 3 in the Coaches Poll, took down Tennessee 1-0 in overtime last Sunday to extend to a 9-1-0 overall record and will look to keep their seven-game winning streak alive against Ole Miss on Friday.

The Duke Blue Devils are undefeated in their last 10 games and will take on ACC conference opponent Louisville on Friday. The Blue Devils made history last week when they set a school record for consecutive wins with nine straight. Now Duke will look to close out September completely undefeated.

No. 5-ranked UNC is back in action on Saturday after securing a 2-1 victory over Virginia last Sunday. The Tar Heels will host Syracuse, a team they are 4-0 against all time. Other must-watch games on Friday are No. 20 Wake Forest vs No. 22 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are unbeaten in the all-time series against the Demon Deacons. The two sides have met seven times and the last meeting was in 2016, when Notre Dame defeated Wake Forest 1-0.

Saturday is a quiet day, mainly in preparation for the 114 games slated for Sunday. However, some key match-ups are Penn State vs Ohio State and Syracuse vs UNC. The Nittany Lions drew to 1-1 against Nebraska last Sunday so will look for three points on the road against the Buckeyes. Redshirt junior Emily Ogle leads Penn State in scoring with four goals so far this season and was named to the MAC Hermann Watch List earlier this season.

Ready for Sunday-all-day-soccer?

Oct. 1 will see Stanford take on Arizona State, UCLA vs Oregon State, Oregon vs reigning national champions, No. 7 USC and No. 10 Florida vs Georgia to name a few. The Cardinal have the highest scoring offense so far this season with 4.56 goals per game. Ole Miss trails them in second place with 3.91. Ole Miss’ offense is hard to overlook, especially with Channing Foster and Cece Kizer pitching in 10 and nine goals, respectively, this season.

Also worth noting, No. 15 Rutgers will square-off against the No. 12 Wisconsin on Sunday. The Badgers have filled out their attack well with sophomore Dani Rhodes stepping up her goalscoring capabilities. Rhodes leads her team with six goals, four being game-winners.
