With seven seconds remaining in the first half of Division III Texas Lutheran’s game against Belhaven (Miss.) Saturday afternoon, Bulldog kicker Tyler Hopkins had his 18-yard field goal blocked by a Blazer defender. Only no one from Belhaven or Texas Litheran had the chance to get to the loose ball.

That’s because Hopkins had the presence of mind to alertly kick the blocked field goal perfectly through the uprights to give the Bulldogs a 17-0 lead before the break.

On an action-packed college football Saturday that’s seen a Hail Mary answered, back-and-forth touchdowns and an 85-yard touchdown run from a Heisman candidate, Hopkins’ might be the most unique play of the bunch.
