The Los Angeles Lakers believe that Lonzo Ball’s camp leaked the knee injury of the versatile court general to prevent a trade.

Ball who is currently suffering from a minor knee injury is the talk of every trade rumor after the LA Lakers decided to sign Rajon Rondo. The 20-year-old player is likely to go to surgery to repair a torn meniscus on his left knee.

According to reports, Ball’s camp was bothered with the team’s signing of Rondo since both players are ball-dominant court generals who are having a tough time finding their shots. However, the LA Lakers were quick to respond saying that the addition of Rondo was meant to challenge Ball.

Aside from Rondo, the LA Lakers have also signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson, and JaVale McGee into one-year deals, filling their rosters with seasoned players. Numerous reports say that the Los Angeles native doesn’t want to be traded from LA most especially since the arrival of his favorite player LeBron James. The LA Lakers stunned everyone when it signed James on a four-year deal worth $154 million earlier in the offseason.

Will The Lakers Trade Ball?

Despite signing James, the LA Lakers are determined to add more key players to the lineup as they look forward on making a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard. Earlier this week, the Spurs have reached out to the LA Lakers on potentially getting Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Kyle Kuzma, and two future draft pick in exchange for Leonard.

Besides Leonard, the LA Lakers are also looking at the possibility of bringing either John Wall or Damian Lillard to the team. With James leading the LA Lakers, experts are doubtful that the team would have the patience to see Ball develop.

Ball, who was picked second by the LA Lakers in last year’s draft, averaged a near triple-double in his rookie season accumulating 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds in 52 games. Although Ball’s future with the LA Lakers is still uncertain, his father, LaVar still believes that his three sons will play together in the City of Angels.

“LeBron got a four-year deal, right? I hope he gets four championships in a row. If not I guarantee two when all my boys on the Lakers with him,” Lavar said.

Earlier last month, Lonzo’s younger brother LiAngelo went undrafted in this year’s NBA Draft despite a stellar season in Lithuania. The LA Lakers did not send a summer league invitation to LiAngelo either.
