Day 2 of the Division I baseball Super Regionals, boy was it fun. And with eight games on the docket, fans had plenty of action on the diamond to take in. High-profile pitching matchups, big home runs and late-game drama, all of it was on display in spades on Saturday.
Amidst all the action, three teams have already punched their tickets to Omaha — Louisville, Texas A&M and Oregon State — after sweeping their opponent in their respective series. But that wasn’t the only noteworthy event on the day as five other teams continue the fight to join that trio at the College World Series.
TCU needed a late home run from catcher Evan Skoug to help beat back a pesky Missouri State squad; Florida State (FSU) stormed back to topple Sam Houston State (SHSU); and last but not least, Florida got its first walk-off win of the year by beating Wake Forest in 11 innings — a game that also featured a three hour rain delay.
No rest for the weary as the action is set to pick back up again on Sunday at noon with FSU and SHSU squaring off in the first of five games on the day.
Read on below for some of the highlights from a busy Saturday of college baseball action. And be sure to check back in tomorrow to do it all over again. NCAA.com keeps you covered on the road to Omaha.
