World No. 1 Golfer Tiger Woods (Photo : Reuters)

Tiger Woods is set to tee off at 1:16 p.m. today at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, where he will attempt to defend his 2012 Memorial crown. Woods, Rory McElroy and the rest of the field can be live streamed for free by clicking this link.

Woods, the world’s top golfer, has regained his dominant form of late, and will look to win the Memorial for the second straight year despite a number of very loud distractions.

During the Players Championship, Woods and rival Sergio Garcia were involved in a nasty media spat that stemmed from Woods drawing a club from his bag while Garcia was about to attempt a shot. The ensuing crowd reaction bothered Garcia, who called out Woods for his inconsiderate act.

A back-and-forth began that culminated with Garcia making racially insensitive comments about serving Woods “fried chicken” for dinner. While Garcia has repeatedly apologized for his comments, the frosty relationship between the two has kept alive a story that Woods says he wants buried.

When asked about whether he will have a sit-down with Garcia, Woods tersely responded “That’s already done with.”

Golf legend Jack Nicklaus has also had enough of the controversy, which has overshadowed Woods’ truly brilliant play of late. “The Sergio-Tiger thing, I mean it’s stupid,” Nicklaus said. “I mean … do guys have an issue with one another? They usually resolve it themselves. You guys want to resolve it in the newspapers today. Nobody needs that. And I think they both finally said it’s enough. Let’s move on.”

Following Garcia’s remarks, Woods tweeted “The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.” He went on to say that he thought Garcia felt true remorse for his off-color joke  and that the matter should be over and done with.

The Memorial tournament leaders right now are Americans Josh Teater and Scott Piercy, who are tied at 5-under par. Teater has gone through 15 holes, while Piercy has gone through 12.
