The DIII Women’s Soccer Championship finals are ready to be played. Just two teams remain standing in the DIII women’s soccer.
Chicago advanced to its first title game since 2003 in the first semifinals match of the day. The Maroons struck early, when Madori Spiker stole a pass and found Hannah Watkins streaking to the goal just six minutes into the action. It would be all Chicago needed, posting its fifth-straight shutout this postseason, en route to defeating TCNJ 1-0.
The second match finished with the same score, but was a much differently fought battle. Williams and Hardin-Williams fought to a scoreless tie in the first half, despite Williams controlling possession. Hardin-Williams came out firing in the second half, yet the two remained scoreless until the 85th minute. Alison Lu was able to sneak one past Hardin-Simmons Caitlin Christiansen — who was outstanding with nine saves — for the game-winner.
Chicago and Williams will now face for the title. Neither team has allowed a goal this postseason. Someone will have to in order to claim a champions. This is the spot to watch live updates, scores, stats and all the action from the DIII Women’s Soccer Championship from UNC Greensboro Soccer Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.
