Friday’s action saw both games need more than 90 minutes to declare a victor. Messiah moved on with a 3-2 double overtime win while North Park outlasted Chicago in penalty kicks.’

Messiah and Brandeis had a quiet first half, ending in a scoreless tie, before the fireworks began. Sam Vinson scored his first goal of the season to get Brandeis on the board, but Adam Cole tied it shortly after with his first goal of the season for Messiah. Andrew Allen gave Brandeis the lead once again in the 80th minute, but Messiah’s All-American Kirby Robbins hit the equalizer less than a minute later. Tied they remained into double overtime, when Messiah’s Justin Brautigam hit the golden goal sending Messiah to the finals.

The nightcap pitted two teams from the Windy City quite familiar with each other. Chicago and North Park battled through two scoreless overtimes, before needing eight rounds of penalty kicks to decare the winner. The Vikings goalie Mathias Stulen was sensational from start to finish. He turned away 11 of the Maroons’ 20 shots through both overtime periods, and then made two big saves in penalty kicks to seal the game.

Messiah is looking to win its 11th national championship since 2000 while North Park is looking to make program history with its first. Who will take home the title?
