After an exciting quarterfinals round that saw a pair of games decided in penalty kicks, the 2017 College Cup is set for this weekend, starting with Friday’s pair of semifinal games. A group of familiar programs will battle for the DI men’s soccer national championship at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
In Friday’s first semifinal, two-time defending champion Stanford hosts Akron in a rematch of an epic 2015 College Cup semifinal match where the Cardinal advanced on PKs (8-7) en route to their first championship in program history. Opening draw from the first match starts at 6 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPNU.
Two powerhouses square off in the second match of the day when North Carolina and Indiana meet in a battle of two of the top teams in the country this season. The Hoosiers were the lone undeafeated squad in the nation this season, entering the College Cup with a 17-0-6 record. The second game is slated for 8:45 p.m. ET.
